Bread in Syrup served with Clotted Cream

 

This dessert is one of Uludağ’s top chosen desserts. Delicious kadayıf  bread in syrup served with Afyon clotted milk cream. 

 

Ingredients: (10 Servings) 

 

1 kadayıf bread
5 cups of sugar 
8 cups of water 
2 teaspoons of lemon juice


Preparation:

 

Place bread in a large baking pan, soak with 4 cups of warm water, let it rest for 3 hours. Remove access water by pressing down on the bread with paper towels. Caramelize 1 cup of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water, cooking on a medium heat, stir with a wooden spoon. Then add 1 cup of water and let the sugar water boil, pour this over the bread.

Boil 4 cups of sugar, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 8 cups of water to prepare the syrup. Then pour the syrup evenly over the bread. Cover and cook on very low heat for an hour. Every once in a while, spoon some of the syrup and pour over the bread while it is cooking. Uncover and let it cook for another 20 minutes. 

Let it cool and serve with clotted cream.
